Rabbit - Fertility, New Life & Fear
The rabbit is a swift animal that lives normally in the thickets and tall grass. It can be seen all day long, but is mostly noticed at dusk and dawn (a time most associated with the fairy realm). Due to the rabbits ability to procreate, it is recognized as a symbol for sexuality and fertility. It breeds two to five litters per year with each litter baring three to six young ones. After 28 days, the young can take care of themselves, which connects the rabbit to the Moon Cycle. In Chinese folklore the Rabbit is associated with the powers of the Moon, and people born under the 'Year of the Rabbit' are sensitive and artistic.
Many associate the trait of fear with the rabbit as well. When they are being stalked they have a paralyzing fear that emanates from them. They are one of the most common pray animals along with mice. The rabbit has defense abilities as well. They have the ability to create forms for hiding and resting. The rabbit also has a great capability to flee in leaps and hops. It symbolizes the ability to take great leaps and hops into new life. If a rabbit has hopped into your life watch for the leaps and hops that will happen in the next 28 days. Nancy Arruda
