Skunk - Demanding Respect
Most people can identify a skunk even before they see it. It’s appearance is also highly recognizable as well. Being a black animal with a white stripe makes it distinctly known by sight. What seems more potent is its protective fragrance, which can be identified long before any visual contact comes into view. As highly confident animal, it walks around at its own rate of speed not moving or changing its path for any animal that will come near it. It is somewhat fearless walking around with heightened self-esteem and sensuality. Even though they are fearless they walk around with a peaceful quality about them. They do not go out looking for trouble and trouble seems to stay away from them as well. As being the most misunderstood animal, the purpose of a skunk is one of respect. It will wander where ever it please when ever it pleases, although it is mostly a nocturnal animal veering itself out in the dark. If skunk energy has come into you life you are being asked to evaluate several aspects about sensuality, self-esteem, respect and peacefulness.
If we look to the self-esteem aspect, as mentioned a skunk has high self esteem. Think about it…if you smelled as bad as a skunk would you walk around not moving out of the way for anyone? Most people if they experienced carrying the odour of a skunk, they would hide – so that no one could make fun of them. But I have never seen anyone make fun of a skunk; in fact I have moved out of the path of the skunk myself so that I would not have to deal with skunk energy on a personal level. I have come across the path of skunk many times in my life. When I was a teenager, they seemed to find a way into our basement, releasing their wonderful fragrance every time someone would walk in the house. I learned at this time in my life that respect was important for me. Not only respecting myself but other people as well. There was too much respect going on in my life at the time where I honoured everyone else’s needs and not my own. Skunk moved in with me to share it’s knowledge about respect, self-esteem and sensuality. Life has changed since then, however, every now and then skunk medicine shows up in my life allowing for my ability to embrace respect for all on all levels, including respecting myself and demanding respect from others.
