More on Chakras
For some additional information see Chakra Basics. Chakras are referred to the gateways of consciousness. Each Chakra is connected to a layer within the Aura. Chakras look like a wheel like vortex of pure energy, and each one has it’s own characteristics, purpose and connections within the human body. They are found in the body along the spinal cord and are pointing directly outwards from the body. The first Chakra (Root or Red) points in a downward direction and the seventh Chakra (Crown or Violet) points in an upward direction. The 2nd-6th Chakras point outwards and they are found pointing out of the front and back of the body. Colour is a reflection of light, and there are 7 colours in the rainbow, each reflecting towards a Chakra center. So you can say that each individual relates to the subtle vibrations of each colour in their own unique way. Depending on your particular states of consciousness on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. In the list of correspondences for each Chakra, you will learn it’s Sanskrit name, it’s common name and it’s colour. Some times the Colour is referred to it by name, i.e. Red Chakra is the same as Root Chakra. The symbol of the Chakra and the number of petals within the lotus refers to the amount of individual vortexes within one major vortex. There is a list of associated body parts for each Chakra as well as it’s element and how it reflects in nature. There are Zodiac and planetary association with each Chakra as well. For those of you who are interested in strengthening the vibration of each Chakra, I suggest using a gemstone or essential oil that is associated with the Chakra. You will also discover what sense it rules, it’s purpose or goal, what the possibilities are if it is in a healthy state of function or if it is malfunctioning. Read the characteristics to see if your charka’s are in balance or out of balance. For sound therapy there is the mantra used for each Chakra as well as the tone required for that mantra.
