Preparing for SmudgingBefore we begin smudging there are a few supplies that you will need. Suggested items for smudging are:
Prepare your fire safe container or bowl by placing some sand within the container. The sand helps to absorb the heat so that the container does not get too hot and damage surfaces. Hold onto the charcoal with the metal tongs, hold an edge of the charcoal over the flame. (It is best if you use a lighter or candle to light the charcoal, a match may not burn long enough for ignition. Also, matches are not suggested based on the negative or lower vibration of Sulfur.) You will see that the charcoal begins to spark, continue to hold the charcoal until the sparking is completed all the way throughout it. Place the charcoal on the sands surface that is contained within your fire safe container. Gently place a small amount of Heavenly Bodies Herbal Smudge with a spoon on to the top of the charcoal. You will see that the smudge mixture will begin to smoulder or smoke. When you are finished placing smudge on your charcoal please do not through out the charcoal for 24 hours. Normally a charcoal will last for approximately one hour, however for fire safety, do not dispose of the charcoal for 24 hours, as there may be some heat contained within it. Should you have to dispose of the charcoal right away, immerse the hot charcoal in a bowl or cup of Water for a few seconds to a minute.
