How the Tarot WorksAs many people believe, the tarot can be used for divining the ‘future’ of others. It is my belief that the tarot is only as accurate as the person who is reading the cards. For anyone can perform a tarot reading based on the imagery that they see within the cards themselves. But the ability to divine does not come from the cards themselves, it comes from the abilities of the reader and the open-ness of the person they are reading for. So in truth the tarot is simply a tool that allows one to open their channels into the creative mind or into the universal forces and see the potentials and possibilities of all that is. It works by using imagery. Have you ever heard the phrase ‘a picture says 1000 words’. This statement can be directed to the tarot as its imagery allows one to look at it in many different ways. The diviner can look at the same card in 1000 different scenarios and come up with 1000 different interpretations for the one card. When I read for others, each time I look at a card I see something different within the card. The facial expressions of the people within the cards change. Do they really change within the image printed on the paper? Of course not, however what I feel towards that image will change depending on the situation and the surrounding cards, and it is that feeling, plus the thoughts, plus the guidance from universal spirits that allow me to tap into the ‘energy’ or dynamic of what is taking place. It is then that I decipher the overall interpretation of the cards either one by one, or all together to give an expression of the energy that a person is dealing with. To recap and add the tarot is a tool of self study, we can use it for ourselves to discover aspects of our self, including the hidden aspects as each hidden aspect will reveal a Truth within the self. It can assist the reader to finding or seeing solutions in present circumstances and be used for predicting the future. For it is known as a ‘window’ which will allow the reader to see into the ‘other side’. It can also be used as a tool for the reader to develop their creative mind and strengthen their intuition, and aid in meditation. On a personal level, the tarot is best learned when reading or doing the readings for others. Yes you can read the cards for yourself, if you believe this to be truth. However many times, due to our personal attachment to situations and beliefs within our own life and situations we choose not “to see” what the cards are trying to tell us. We have the ability to see what we want instead of what is and this is based on our perception of the situation we are reading.
