Universal Sky NewsletterSaturn Enters Leo July 2005Saturn entered into the sign of Leo on July 16, 2005. It will be in the sign of Leo for the next two and a half years. Before we talk about what this means lets take a look at the energy associated with the planet Saturn and then the sign Leo.
Saturn is known to many people as the ringed planet that orbits the Sun. It’s orbit last’s about 28-29 years to go full circle around the whole Zodiac, spending approximately 2 and a half years in each sign. Its journey can seem like a long one as it travels through a sign, but how one interacts with the emanating energy is all up to the individual. In astrology the planet Saturn rules organization, ambition, status, career, time, tradition, and authority. It represents form, discipline, responsibility, limitations, restrictions, delays, patience, timing, principles of truth, contradiction, aging and wisdom. Astrologically it is the planet that gives us form, which anchors us into this reality through the Universal Law of Restriction*. If we look to the human body, it is my belief that Saturn rules over the Root Chakra. It is in the Root that one must set healthy boundaries in order to live a healthy life, filled with vitality and energy to go on day after day. It is here that we take on our traditional beliefs from our cultural or tribal natures, and incorporate those beliefs into that which we are building. It is in the Root Chakra that we will find the tribal principles of truth, in which we may take responsibility for, or contradict the authority giving us those principles of truth to live by. In the age of man, the Root Chakra represents the first five years of life but Saturn represents the age of 68 to physical death. Here is a bit of a difference, for as a child (say… one who is 5 or younger) we are being told to respect our elders (say… 68 and older) and to heed their wisdom. For if we look to the difference in the Age of Man we will find the polarity that exists in the entire universe. Now you may ask me why am I writing about being 5 when we are talking about a planet that rules the ages of 68 and older, well that brings us to the sign of Leo. You see Leo rules children and childhood. Leo is a magnetic sign that carries positive characteristics of being loving, proud, dignified, confident, ambitious, creative, artistic, progressive, optimistic, generous, sincere, warm, affectionate, romantic, inspired, self-assured and idealistic. From a negative perspective the energy of Leo can be vain, childish, status conscious, boastful, doctoral, autocratic, extravagant, conceited, cruel, egotistical, lustful, pleasure-seeking and pretentious.
However if I were to look into the physical body and find the ruler ship for Leo, I would say it is the Heart Chakra. With Saturn in Leo we are looking into the Heart to find the ‘Light of the Teacher’. It is said that the Soul resides within the heart, and when the student is ready the teacher will emerge, they will find their Light. This teacher is not an external being, but the being that resides within you. During this 2 and a half year period the teacher will emerge within many, and awakening your own principles of truth. In order for one to find the truth they must let go of the blocks that prevent them from seeing it in the first place. Many of the blocks that were put there in the beginning, say the first 5 years. For those of you who are seeking an external teacher before you can recognize the internal one, look to someone with wisdom, look to someone who awoken to their own process of truth. I ask all of you to reflect upon the past, no matter what your age now or then, back to the first week of June of 1976 (the last time Saturn entered into the sign of Leo). Where were you then within the life that you were building? What were your frustrations? Can you remember what you believed? Was it limiting you from manifesting what your hearts desire? What inspired you at that time? How did you pass through the barriers? After speaking with so many people over the past weeks as Saturn was finishing up its journey through the sign of Cancer, many people were taping into extreme amounts of anger. If you look at the anger in the face, it is covering up fear, fear of not being where you think you should be, fear of not having what you truly desire. Look back into the past and you will find why that fear is there and where it all came from. Look at the fear, embrace it, accept it, and know that you are safe doing so. It can not harm you unless you believe it can. We are entering into a journey of opening up our hearts to love. Of building structure and boundaries in our daily lives, our career lives and our family lives to aid in the operation of Love. There is no time for games, although you may find that many of today’s leaders will be playing games. And if you are going to play games, then let them be authentic, crack out the board games and sit and build healthy structures with your children. Now is the time to spend with your children for once they age, they will repeat the cycle of loving from an open heart. Let your children take with them the traditions of healthy happy memories, share the truth with them, for they see it anyways, why create a block. Become a functional leader of substance and style for those who are around you now. Release the dysfunction. Share in the love of the universe; let all you do be of love - not guilt. Sit back, work out, do what you have to do and operate in daily life with an open heart, and feel the Love pour in and out. The transit of Saturn in Leo is going to happen anyway. Why not let it be easy, open your heart and let it flow through you. If you close your heart, it is still going to go through you, only it may be painful that way.
